Working with Roads
No. Most clients come to us without a clear picture of what they need. That is part of what we do. We start with a conversation, review where you are, and tell you what would actually help.
Yes. Roads works with clients across the United States. We have operated programs in Massachusetts, Texas, Vermont, Washington State, Rhode Island and other states. Most of our work is done remotely.
It depends on what you have. If your books are accurate and giving you useful information to make decisions, you may not need us for that. But if you are not sure your numbers are right or your current setup does not give you a real picture of your finances, we should talk.
Roads is built specifically to handle multiple areas at once. Our team includes finance, marketing, legal, technology, HR and operations professionals working under one roof. Most of our clients work with us across more than one service area.
It depends on the service. For bookkeeping, most clients have clean books within 30 to 90 days. For certifications, the timeline varies by type. For strategy and operations work, clients typically see structural changes within the first 60 days. We always set expectations clearly before starting.
Reach out and tell us where you are. Some clients come to us through free or subsidized government programs. Others start with one specific service and grow from there. We would rather have a real conversation than turn someone away without understanding what they actually need.
Small Business Owners
Yes. Most of our small business clients have been operating for several years when they find us. The most common situations are finances that have never been fully organized, businesses that are growing but do not have the right structure, and owners looking to access government contracts for the first time.
Certifications like MBE, WBE, HUB, SBE and DBE identify your business as minority-owned, woman-owned or disadvantaged. Government agencies use these to meet contracting requirements. Roads handles the full certification process including DCAMM in Massachusetts.
The first step is making sure your business is set up correctly: clean financials, proper registration and the right certifications. Roads reviews where you are, identifies what needs to be in place and walks you through the proposal process. We have submitted over 300 RFPs for clients.
Nonprofits
Yes. Most rejections are not about the quality of your programs. They are about how the application was written and whether the proposal speaks to what the funder actually cares about. Roads has helped nonprofits get approved after being rejected twice.
That is one of the most common reasons nonprofits come to Roads. We handle bookkeeping, compliance reporting, grant management, HR and marketing for organizations that do not have the bandwidth to manage all of that internally.
With a conversation about whether a nonprofit is the right structure for what you are trying to do. If it is the right path, Roads handles the legal formation, IRS application, bylaws, board structure and initial compliance requirements.
Government Programs
Roads is certified through 1GPA, a cooperative purchasing program that allows government agencies to contract with pre-vetted vendors without going through a full RFP process. We have passed four audits with Harris County in Texas and have active programs in multiple states.
Roads produces full impact documentation before a program closes: businesses served, outcomes achieved, capital accessed and lessons learned. Many of our programs have been renewed because of the documentation and relationships we build. Vermont has renewed with Roads three consecutive years.
